We are obliged to collect taxes, provide services, and represent the people we serve in accordance with the terms of our incorporation and the provisions of the Municipalites Act.
The Town of Hants Harbour has a vision based on a sound approach to community sustainability so that in the future it will:
– Through a combination of municipal policies, public education, infrastructure upgrades to the sewer system and policy changes to waste management will ensure the protection of the natural environment in and around the community,
– Develop a business friendly environment by reducing barriers for new business operations while increasing communications, upgrading town facilities, develop a town marketing strategy and develop a town website which will advertise and promote our town,
– Ensure that information and adequate social programs are available to residents of all ages. Programming will include recreation, seniors housing, fitness for all ages and any other needs identified by the community,
– Document and promote our history and heritage. Develop, document and promote our culture and people through programs designed to engage residents and visitors,
– Operate the town with fiscal responsibility and accountability through land use, financial and strategic planning while engaging the public whenever possible,
– Engage all partners in the community and enhance existing relationships in the community and the region to accomplish our goals as identified by council and the residents
